Air India fined Rs 30 lakh following elderly passenger’s death at Mumbai airport

Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has slapped a fine of Rs 30 lakh on Air India following the incident of an elderly passenger collapsing and dying at the Mumbai airport after he decided to walk as the airline could not provide him with timely wheelchair assistance.

The regulator has also issued an advisory to all carriers asking them to ensure adequate availability of wheelchairs for passengers requiring assistance.
